Healing Arts Intensive at Life Force Arts Foundation

Healing Through The Arts based in the Life Force Arts Method: Each Healing Arts Intensive is designed as a life-changing experience of transformation and healing in community. Participants will experience how the Life Force Arts Method (LFAM) can be used as a powerful tool to create transformation in all areas of life, whatever form of change they may need: healing, growth, learning, development. We experience the universal wisdom concepts of LFAM through focusing on a personal transformational Intention and engaging in interdisciplinary arts: visual art, writing, dance, theater, music, storytelling and more.

How it works

Participants learn the basics of the Life Force Arts Method (LFAM), especially the core concept of the 4 Skills, which are key to navigating smoothly through life. The 4 Skills encompass the basic issues of human life, and the wisdom to deal with them from a place of empowerment and joy. Knowing the Skills can make our lives so much easier!  The 4 Skills help us understand four essential aspects of life from our most inner world to our most outer world:

  • Streaming (being conscious and present with your thoughts and feelings)

  • Osmosis (leading and following)

  • Dialogue (interacting creatively)

  • Crystallizing (operating within a structured form)

Best of all, LFAM is not limited to intellectual concepts and discussion: the purpose is for participants to master the 4 Skills through personal growth practices in the arts.

Each of the Skills has keywords associated with it. These keywords become important guides for the participants as they work through the process of fulfilling their Intentions for transformation.

The Intention: Each participant formulates an Intention or goal for the Healing Arts Intensive: something in their life that they want to create significant transformation regarding. The transformation may take the form of healing, learning, growing or developing. Fulfilling this Intention shapes the activities of each participant and of the group.

The Format.  Each Healing Arts Intensive has a Group of three to twelve participants guided by a Facilitator. There are four in-person Group sessions, usually one meeting per week for four weeks for 3 hours, plus recommended practices to be done in between the sessions.  Note: Intensives may have the Healing Performance with LFAE in Session 2 and participatory arts in Session 3, or vice versa: participatory arts with LFAE in Session 2 and the Healing Performance in Session 3

  • Before Session 1: information given to participants (written and/or video) on LFAM and on the Healing Performance with Life Force Arts Ensemble (LFAE) that the Group will attend

  • Session 1: Orientation - Intro to LFAM (practicing with group members) and creation of Intentions based on Keywords of the 4 Skills. Discussion of the background of the Healing Performance with LFAE that the Group will be attending: its theme, Main Text, visuals/artwork, music and movement

  • Bridge between session 1 & 2: Exploring your Intention and how it relates to the Skill focused on in the Healing Performance.. What aspects of your Intention relate to that Skill? Which of the Keywords associated with that Skill most apply to your Intention and which do not? Why? How can understanding that Skill help you with your Intention? Practice the 4 Skills in daily life. Create individual projects in any of the arts to further Intention.

  • Session 2 or 3: Participating in interdisciplinary arts to further Intention. Facilitator and Group decide on the type(s) of art for the session (visual art, writing, dance, theater, music, storytelling, etc.).

  • Bridge between session 2 & 3: Exploring your Intention and how it relates to the Healing Performance. What aspects of your Intention relates to the Performance? How can understanding the relation of the 4 Skills and the Performance help you with your Intention? Create individual projects in any of the arts to further Intention.

  • Session 2 or 3: Healing Performance with Life Force Arts Ensemble

  • Bridge between session 3 & 4: Participants receive access to video of Healing Performance; Create individual projects in any of the arts to further Intention.

Session 4: Closure - Participating in interdisciplinary arts to complete Intention and bring Closure to the Group. Facilitator and Group decide on the type(s) of art for the session (visual art, writing, dance, theater, music, storytelling, etc.). Each participant has the opportunity to reflect on and share the outcome of their experience and Intention.

Cost: Special! All four sessions for half price, $75
