What We Do

Life Force Arts Foundation offers programs from introductory to master’s level in contemporary shamanic practice and shamanic visual and performing arts. Art is a form of energy healing, and LFA expounds the common basis of art as energy work in what previously have been four different fields: enhanced communication (as in education), energy healing, expressive arts therapy and transformative art. We utilize many art forms – painting, music, drawing, dancing, singing, writing, storytelling, and more. We especially emphasize the performing arts to create a strong body-mind-energy connection. Our philosophy is to encompass many variations on the continuum from Art to Education to Healing to Community-Building.

We offer educational workshops; one-on-one individual healing sessions between client and practitioner; and artistic performances. Shamanism and transformative art are combined in different variations, from events that primarily utilize quiet, internal meditation to our Shamanic Art Performances, in which singers, dancers and musicians create shamanic ritual art. All our activities are for the purpose of healing, wellness and empowerment.

Programs Offered:

Workshops and Events - We offer a variety of events for the general public in shamanism and transformative art, including introductory workshops, Transformative Art performances/exhibits and Community Healing Rituals.

Shamanic Training Program - Shamanism is an ancient form of spiritual healing, practiced for at least 20,000 years in virtually every culture of the world. The Shamanic Training Program provides instruction in the contemporary shamanic work developed by Joan Forest Mage. Combining practices of shamanism from many cultures, this program takes the student from the basics of shamanic practice all the way to training as a shamanic healer.

Transformative Art Program - Based in the Creative Community Medicine Wheel, this program trains students to use the visual, literary and performing arts to foster skills of healthy relationship among the 4 Communities of the individual, human society, Nature and the Ancestors/Spirit Realm. The Transformative Art Program (TAP) teaches both the therapeutic uses of the arts for those who wish to be Expressive Arts Therapists/Practitioners, and also Transformative Art for artists who wish to produce spiritually based art.

Mentoring Program - provides training for students who wish further supervised clinical practice either concurrently or after finishing one of the Professional Tracks: Shamanic Practitioners, Expressive Arts Therapist/Practitioners or Transformative Artists
